FAQs

  • We have a limit of 10 guests (excluding infants under 2) staying in the main house. Upon completion there will be a maximum of 4 guests in the adjacent Cow House. We are perfect for groups up to this size but being a wonderful old property with off- mains waste plumbing we cannot accept additional guests.

  • We are very happy to host pets but have a general policy of a 2 dog limit. We kindly ask for you to tell us the breed and if they are house trained prior to booking.

  • Yes, we charge £20 per dog to help cover the cost of the additional cleaning required. We also charge £20 extra for any dog foul which needs to be cleaned up after your stay, so please make sure you clean up after your dog in the garden.

  • We operate on a 3-night minimum stay basis. In low season and for last-minute bookings we may be able to be more flexible with minimum stays - please enquire.

  • Our default times have been agreed with our cleaning team who have to comply with Air BnB’s enhanced COVID-19 cleaning policy which is of course designed to keep everyone safe. Presently this means additional cleaning time, hence our default times of 5pm and 9am for check in / out respectively. Please discuss beforehand if you have any specific requests and requirements, as in some circumstances such as a gap between bookings we may be able to accommodate earlier and later check-in / check-out times. We will not be able to confirm however until nearer the time of your stay.

  • Please see link to our House Rules here.

  • Yes, this is available for use between April and October. You will need to provide your own charcoal, and clean the BBQ after use.

  • One high chair (wood, made by Safety First), one travel cot (made by Ingenuity). The cot comes with a standard mattress base insert. There is also a newborn insert that can be zipped in.

  • No, the house is not suitable for parties.

  • Our house is great for family get-togethers and special occasions. Our beautiful rural location is very peaceful. We are not set up for additional daytime guests using the house facilities as it is an old farmhouse property and is off mains for waste water.

  • No, we do not permit guests swapping mid-stay.

  • The following basic supplies are provided to make your stay more comfortable: bed linen, towels, tea towels, oven gloves, one basket of logs (additional logs available for £8 per sack), tea, coffee, store cupboard essentials (such as cooking oil, sugar, salt, pepper), and a starter pack of toilet roll, cleaning products, bin bags, dishwasher and washing machine tablets, and washing up liquid. We also provide hair and body wash and soap in the bathrooms.

  • One of the best features of our property is its location ‘off the beaten track’ - we like to think of it as your own little slice of Yorkshire paradise. To get to it you need to drive down a 3/4 mile farm track that does have some potholes. The track does lend itself better to higher clearance cars, but we have taken a Fiat Punto down it in the past (albeit very slowly) so it is possible! If you are lucky enough to own a low-slung sports car then the track will be a problem for you. By and large regular cars will be fine if you don’t rush. The views are well worth it in the end. Parking-wise, we have ample parking for up to 5 cars in the gravelled area of the garden.

  • Yes, the nearest pub / restaurant is a 10-minute drive away. Following your booking with us, we’ll send you a Welcome Pack complete with a Local Information section which includes pub and restaurant recommendations in the area. We can also recommend a private chef if you would like a special lunch / dinner / BBQ at the house.

  • Following your booking with us, we’ll send you a Welcome Pack complete with a Local Information section which has lots of information about the local area and its amenities. We also keep IOS walking maps in the house (please leave these in the house for future guests), and Mary can also point you in the direction of nearby walking trails and public footpaths.

  • Regrettably our house is not suitable for wheelchair users. All of our bedrooms and main bathrooms are on the first floor so the house may not be suitable for guests who struggle with stairs, although we do have a WC on the ground floor next to the kitchen so there’s no need to go upstairs to use the loo.
